The Groton Pool & Golf Center Swim Team is open to every Season Pass Holder of the Groton Pool & Golf Center and participant in the "Learn to Swim" program. We will have several home and away meets, as well as a Championship Meet. Participation is open to children from four to eighteen years of age.
Competition
Competition is in the following age groups:
6 & Under
7 - 8 years
9 - 10 years
11 - 12 years
13 - 14 years
15 - 18 years
Age-specific Swimming Events
6 & Under: Swim one length of the pool (25 yards) of freestyle & back-stroke.
7 & 8 years: Swim one length of the pool (25 yards) in freestyle, back-stroke, butterfly, and breaststroke.
9 & 10 years: Swim one length of the pool (25yards) in freestyle, back-stroke breaststroke, butterfly, and the individual medley ( four lengths of each stroke).
11 - 12 years, 13 - 14 years, 15 - 18 years: Swim two lengths of the pool in all strokes and the individual medley.
Relay events: for boys and girls in 2 divisions; 12 and Under and 13 to 18.
Medley relay: Each swimmer does a different stroke.
Free relay: Everyone does the same stroke.
Note: No more than two swimmers from the oldest age group may be on the relay.
